How do I see what video card I have and where would I go to upgrade it? Online maybe? ?

Also how do I go about changing the resolution? What isnormal for videos? How do I see what video card I have and where would I go to upgrade it? Online maybe? ?
Right click anywhere on your desktop Properties-Settings-Advanced-Adapter will tell you make and model of your card or the chip set if it's integrated graphics and how much Ram it's has or is using

You can't upgrade the actual card you can only upgrade the drivers ... and if it's working there's not much point in that

It's a laptop som it's almost impossible to upgrade your actual card (if you have one) and Imposible to upgrade if it's integrated ... and videos will adjust themselves ... you can't always get %26quot;full screen%26quot; you'll just have to live with the black band top and bottomHow do I see what video card I have and where would I go to upgrade it? Ok first...to change screen resolution, right click desktop/properties/settings....adjust resolution. To see what video card, two ways...Belarc Advisor here http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html

This will tell you more than you need, but great info. Also, start/control panel/system/advanced/device manager. Update driver if possible. Either MS website CUSTOM scan not EXPRESS, or manufacturers VideoCard or PC website support and downloads.

Cant change resolution on old monitor, after higher resolution monitor died. Cant get to change settings?

Heres the deal:

Have computer with Windows XP SP2.

Had a new 22 wide LCD, that just died

When I try using old monitor, the screen shows display until windows boots, then the resolution is set too high and monitor goes out.

I cannot access safe mode by pressing any f-keys

I even tried using S-video to TV but resolution seemed too high

I just want to change resolution, so I can use newest computer on older Monitor.

Anyone know how to do this?Cant change resolution on old monitor, after higher resolution monitor died. Cant get to change settings?
Start your computer, as soon as you see print on the screen, push the restart button. Do this 3 times in a row, and then let the computer start normally. It will give you the option for safe mode. When you boot there, you can change your screen settings.Cant change resolution on old monitor, after higher resolution monitor died. Cant get to change settings?
start the computer into safe mode..

there might even be the option at the f8 menue to start windows at the lowest resolution.

  • How do I change my resolution to 1080?

I have a samsung LCD tv and when you switch the mode from the cable tv to the video input where the ps3 is plugged into, there is a display on the top left that tells you what resolution it is. So, I have my PS3 set to 1080 when its in the menu and stuff but when I start a game, (for example NBA 2k10 which says on the box it can be played in 1080p) my tv switches to 720. Any suggestions? How do I change my resolution to 1080?
HDTV are fixed resolution displays, you can't change the resolution. If your TV has a native resolution of 720p then it is a 720p TV. If it's native resolution is 1080p then it a 1080p TV.

What might be confusing you is that many 720p can handle a 1080p input signal; it just down coverts the incoming signal to its native 720p resolution. How do I change my resolution to 1080?
If your tv is native resolution 720p, than no matter what you send to it, that's all it can display. You can't change a tv's native resolution.

Change boot resolution or adjust frequency to resolve Out of range issue?

    Hello!

I have Windows XP and an old ATI Radeon 9000 video card. I also have this LCD monitor.

They used to work just fine, but from a month or so, when I boot (or even just before the booting starts) I get an %26quot;Out of range%26quot; message from my monitor, and the the V frequency is 49.x Hz but never 50 (I found out that if it's below or 50 it is OK). Also, the monitor reports that the screen resolution is 800 x 600.

I can't see anything else until Windows loads (when frequency is below 60 Hz). Just sometimes it gets below 50 and I can go into BIOS or the Windows boot menu.

My question is how can I force another resolution during booting, in order to increase the frequency.

(P.S.: I already tried starting Windows in VGA mode, starting in safe mode etc. - actually even is safe modes it looks like it is a 800x600 although Windows reports that is 640x480 - the image is stretched down and it is more clear than it would have been in 640x480 as I can tell)

Please help me with this.Change boot resolution or adjust frequency to resolve Out of range issue?

    Battlefield 2142 Video Error?

Okay I know I'm an idiot but I am so angry at this fu%ing game! I went to change the video settings in the menu on BF2142 and I changed the resolution to... idk the last on, and I think it was at 75hertz or w/e and all of a sudden my monitor goes black and a default screen for the monitor comes up and says frequency is out of range, here's what I need to figure out how to do, i need to change the resolution of the game but since the ******* game doesn't do a little accept thing after you change the options to make sure something works/ so this doesn't happen, it doesn't sonow everytime I run it it comes up to a black screen and I can hear it. How the hell do I do this, yeah I'm pissed this isn't the first problem I've had with BF2142.Battlefield 2142 Video Error?
Ok, not to be mean, but it's not the game's fault you didnt research what resolution your monitor could support. That aside, try the below link to get your game working again... go to the section about setting a custom resolution, and substitute a resolution your monitor supports for the one they show in the example... good luck hope this helps

How do I fix the resolution on a monitor that is just showing an error screen?

    Due to low-budget costs and a burned out computer, my father bought an eMachines EL1331G. (Yes, I know that is very low-end, so please do not comment about it.) It works perfectly fine. However, it doesn't seem to be too friendly with my monitor when it isn't in Safe Mode. My monitor shows this error screen: %26quot;PC Video resolution setting is out of range. Change setting to recommended resolution: 1280x1024@60Hz.%26quot;

My monitor is an HP Pavilion f1703. I have installed the recommended Driver upgrades from the eMachines and NVidia websites. I even installed self-adjustment and first aid tools specifically for this monitor from the HP website. I have tried changing the resolution in Safe Mode, but it only keeps the settings for Safe Mode.

My CPU is an AMD Athlon 2850e Processor. My video driver is a NVidia GeForce 6150 SE that has been Integrated. Finally, my OS is Windows 7 Home Premium.

How do I make my computer display the resolution my monitor wants when the screen is black with an error message? How do I fix the resolution on a monitor that is just showing an error screen?
In safe mode, you won't be able to change the resolution (or set refresh rates). Safe mode boots XP using a generic VGA driver, not the graphics driver you have loaded; this allows you to recover from video-drivers-gone-wrong type problems.

Instead of booting into safe mode, you'll need to boot into VGA mode. This isn't very well documented as far as I can tell; as best as I can recall, you'll need to do the following:

Hit F8 twice right after the computer boots. You'll see more options than you'll typically find in the normal F8 boot menu.

One of the options is VGA mode; select that option. XP will boot like normal, except it'll force the video card to boot at 640x480 with 4 colors @ 60hz. From there you can change the display settings however you want. You won't even need to reboot to get out of it.How do I fix the resolution on a monitor that is just showing an error screen?
as you are using win 7

boot to safe mode using the F8 key and select

,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,Enable low resolution video (640 脳 480),,,,,,,,it's 6th in the list (explanation )

Starts Windows using your current video driver and using low resolution and refresh rate settings. You can use this mode to reset your display settings. For more information, see Change screen resolution and Correct monitor flicker (refresh rate).
