How can i get windows to load in normal mode after a clean install?

i just installed windows xp service pack3 and it will load up to the windows logo screen then go straight to a black screen. I can load in vga and safe mode but i cannot change any resolution setting without the screen going blank again. i installed the graphics driver for my video card but there is still no change. any help would be greatly appreciatedHow can i get windows to load in normal mode after a clean install?
