New video card, works, cant see desktop toolbar, start menu etc.?

just installed new video card , evga fx 5200, sofware is installed, plugged monitor into new video card and it works, everything works, but on my desktop there is no lower toolbar.. ya know, the one with the start menu button on it. im using win xp.

the video card is for win xp. if i had the start button i might be able to get to windows help and figure it out..

if i minimize a window its gone lol.

and its not an issue with screen size and it being out of visible area, i've changed resolution and the verticle adjustments on the monitor itself...

i prolly just have to change some simple setting, just dont know how to get there without the start menu.

thanks alot!New video card, works, cant see desktop toolbar, start menu etc.?
it sounds like your video card's set resolution isn't compatible with your monitor. Your start menu is probably just fine but you need to change your resolution to something lower. Right-click on the screen and go to settings. in the settings tab you can lower the resolution, go down one knotch at a time until one works for you.New video card, works, cant see desktop toolbar, start menu etc.?
i would try booting into safemode and check out the display properties .. maybe uninstall and reinstall the driver ... maybe disable any old onboard video in bios settup ...New video card, works, cant see desktop toolbar, start menu etc.?
Try clicking at the very bottom of the screen and pulling up (like you were making a window bigger). Sometimes the start bar can minimize itself and go out of the viewable area.New video card, works, cant see desktop toolbar, start menu etc.?
on your keyboard hit the windows key yo get your start menu
