PS3: My screen turns black when i want to change to a higher resolution even though i've pluged in a HDMI wire?

PS3: My screen turns black when i want to change to a higher resolution even though i've pluged in a HDMI wire. i went to display settings and then video output settings and then i click HDMI. then they say that if the settings are wrong, it will turn blank. after 30 sec, it will return to its normal bla bla bla. i've checked my television and it supports HDMI cable and all the resolution stuffs.

what should i do now!!! help! how to not make my screen turn black.PS3: My screen turns black when i want to change to a higher resolution even though i%26039;ve pluged in a HDMI wire?
Yeah - if it isn't a resolution problem, when you click HDMI you also need to change your TV to HDMI input.

You can probably do this by pushing a %26quot;input%26quot; or %26quot;source%26quot; button on your TV, you may have to push it a few times, or change the input. Then, to say watch cable on your TV remote you'll have to change the input back.

HDMI CABLE HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE PICTURE RESOLUTION. IT ONLY SENDS THE SIGNAL TO YOUR TV. SIGNALS CAN BE FROM 480i TO 1080p. THEREFORE, YOUR TV DOES NOT SUPPORT THE HIGH SETTING OF 1080p. GO BACK TO DISPLAY SETTING AND SELECT CUSTOM (NOT AUTOMATIC). UNCHECK 1080i AND 1080p AND LEAVE 720p CHECKED. IF THE SCREEN IS STILL BLACK, THEREFORE YOUR TV ONLY SUPPORTS STANDARD RESOLUTION OF 480p.PS3: My screen turns black when i want to change to a higher resolution even though i%26039;ve pluged in a HDMI wire?
your tv although is probably hi def it may not be full 1080p hi def (quite a few are not esp early models). so your max res your tv could support is prob 720 and 1080i if you have it set up with 1080p res the screen will go blank.

Also it may be obvious but have you switched your tv over to hdmi output?
