This is the new video card Dell is offering. My family has just purchased a 19%26quot; widescreen monitor from Dell, and the text and images are stretched horizontally no matter what I change my screen resolution to. We have an old video card because we still have an old Gateway system. We are going to be purchasing a new Dell system soon, so I was wondering if the new system/new video card will solve this stretching issue.
Please help if you have this video card on your computer or know how I can get rid of the stretching! I don't think I'll be able to adapt to the scretched images and text. What are the screen resolution options on the Integrated Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 3100?
The 19%26quot; monitor's optimal resolution is 1440 x 900. Once the resolution is set to this the screen will no longer be stretched. If the current system will not allow you to set this resolution try to see if there is an updated video driver for the system through Gateway.
If this does not work the next system you get with the Intel GMA 3100 will support this resolution. The GMA 3100 supports a maximum resolution of 2048x1536 through VGA.
Some separate video cards will support a maximum resolution of 2560 x 1600, and will hookup to the monitor through a DVI cable. A separate video card is usually the better option for gaming, or if you plan on using a monitor that will support this higher resolution.
